Most people think of cars and motorbikes when they think of Japanese motoring giant Honda. However since its first public appearance in 2015, the Hondajet has been taking the private jet sector by stealth.
Hondajet is Honda’s first foray into the aviation market and it appears to have been a successful move. The first Hondajet was delivered in December 2015, and by 2017 production had reached four aircraft per week in its US manufacturing plant in Greensboro, North Carolina. The company reports that Hondajet was the most-delivered jet in its class in the first half of 2017. They delivered 24 aircraft to customers in the US, Mexico, Canada and Europe in those six months. It went on to be the most delivered jet of its class for the next two years and now the HondaJet fleet comprises more than 130 aircraft around the globe.
Honda Aircraft Company claim their Hondajet to be the world’s most advanced light jet. They claim the aircraft is the fastest, highest-flying, quietest, most fuel-efficient, and most comfortable business jet in its class.
Honda Aircraft President and CEO Michimasa Fujino describes the Hondajet as “...a very high tech, sporty aircraft and it is like a flying, high precision sports car,"
The HondaJet Elite incorporates Honda Aircraft's many technological innovations, including the unique Over-The-Wing Engine Mount (OTWEM) configuration, Natural Laminar Flow (NLF) nose and wing and composite fuselage. These advancements contribute to the aircraft's superior performance, unparalleled efficiency and maximized fuselage space, making the aircraft's cabin the largest in its class.
